The pastoral community of Gaddi shepherds is found in the state of Himachal Pradesh. They follow the seasonal movement with winters at lower Shivalik hills and summers spent in Lahaul and Spiti. They move towards Lahaul in April, and when snow is cleared on higher mountains, they move on to higher mountain meadows. They return to lower areas in September, where they spend some time in Lahaul to harvest their summer crops and sow winter crops. After that, they again move towards the lower Shivalik hills for winter. They move along with their goats and sheep and follow a similar process every year.
