The Gaddi shepherds move twice annually.
The Dhauladhar range, Chamba, and other neighbouring regions and valleys are where you may find most Gaddi shepherds. Most of them are cattle, sheep, and goats. They relocate twice a year, once in the summer and once in the winter. High mountains were buried in snow throughout the winter, so the Gaddi wintered in Shivalik's low hills. And in April, they relocated to Lahaul and Spiti for the summer. By September, they had begun to return to their regular location. In the scrub woodland, they allowed their cattle to graze.
