Detailed Solution

The Gandhian idea of 'self-help' was represented in the Swaraj flag as the spinning wheel. Mahatma Gandhi designed the Swaraj flag in 1921. Gandhiji organised this as a tri-coloured flag with red, green and white colours. The flag's centre had a spinning wheel designed on it, symbolising the idea of self-help, which Mahatma Gandhi aggressively practised. Carrying the flag during any marches held to revolt against the colonial government became the symbol of defiance. This flag was first designed during the Swadeshi movement held in Bengal, but it had yellow as the third colour instead of white.
