The German Empire was proclaimed in 1871. Prussia announced the unification of Germany into the German Empire, which would have a federalist organisation. For many years, this incident had a significant impact on European politics. The first chancellor of Germany was Otto von Bismarck. He was the Prussian chief minister. Being a brilliant tactician, Bismarck waged successful wars with Denmark, Austria, and France to unify the 39 different German states under Prussian rule. He was the man behind starting the unification effort. It was effectively carried out with the support of the Prussian military and the administrative apparatus. William Kaiser I of Prussia's emerging German empire was also helped to take hold by Bismarck.
