The government of Madhya Pradesh launched Namami Devi Narmade for the Narmada river conservation mission.
River Narmada is a major peninsular river that flows through Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. It was launched from the Amarkantak, where the river Narmada originates. It was launched as a people's movement. It was started in 2016. The objectives were to protect the environment and the river so it could remain a clean water source free from pollution. The other objectives were to create awareness about river pollution and how to control it, soil conservation, plantation of trees, organic farming, etc.
