The Greek Revolution, also known as the Greek War of Independence, was a successful war of independence conducted from 1821 to 1830 against the Ottoman Empire. The Ottoman Empire ruled Greece in the 15th century since they were unsuccessful then, but the struggle between 1821 and 1829 was a successful fight for independence.
The rise of revolutionary nationalism across Europe fueled the Greek people's desire for armed conflict. Greek nationalists helped other exiled Greeks in this, and they were joined by numerous West Europeans who shared their strong affinity for Greek culture. As a result of this conflict, Greece became an independent state, with Britain, Russia, and France having a significant impact on Greek affairs. Despite the modest size of the Greek state, the Ottoman Empire ultimately fell, and the Christians were able to attain independence. With time, the Armenians, Serbs, Bulgarians, Albanians, and Romanians fought for and won their independence.
