The Bharatiya Janata Party's guiding concept is based on Pandit Deendayal Upadhaya's ideals of integral humanism.
The BJP was formed in 1980 by merging the former Bhartiya Jana Sangh. It was elected as the leader of the National Democratic Alliance, which included many state and regional parties, in 1998. The BJP is a right-wing political party that aims to build a strong, modern India with inspiration from India's ancient cultures and values. It also draws from the ideas of 'Antyodaya' and cultural nationalism based on 'Hindutva' ideologies. It aims to implement a uniform civil code for all citizens, irrespective of their religion.
