Detailed Solution

Halogen is any of the six nonmetallic elements that make up Periodic Group 17 (Group VIIa). Fluorine (F), chlorine (Cl), bromine (Br), iodine (I), astatine (At), and tennessine are the halogen elements (Ts).

The connection (C-X) between carbon and halogen atoms is polar. Because halogen atoms (excluding iodine) are more electronegative than carbon, there is a partial accumulation of negative charge on the halogen atom and a partial accumulation of positive charge on the carbon. This is known as polarity, and it causes the molecule to be permanently dipolar.
