Detailed Solution

The Harappan Civilization built the oldest known citadels.
A citadel is typically a big fortress or a large structure built around a castle to protect it from invasions, disasters, or calamities. The Harappan Civilisation erected the oldest known citadels. The settlements in Harappan Civilization were split into Citadel (smaller in size but higher) and Lower Town (more prominent in size but lower). Citadel's key feature was that the buildings were built higher on mud-brick platforms, physically separated from the lower town. Baked brick walls were created around the parts, which were robust enough to survive a thousand years.
