Detailed Solution

Chennai is the Southern Railway zone's headquarters.
Southern railways are one of India's 17 railway zones. It includes Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry, and small parts of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. With a length of 9,654 kilometres, the Southern Railway zone was the first to be created. It was formed on April 14, 1951, by merging the Madras and Southern Maharashtra Railway, the South Indian Railway, and the Mysore State Railway. The economic and topographical conditions in this zone permitted an early integrated network.
