In a sinusoidal wave motion, the particles move about the mean equilibrium or mean position with time. The particles rise until they reach the highest point, known as the crest, and then fall until they reach the lowest point, known as the trough. The cycle repeats in a consistent pattern. The time period of a wave's oscillation is defined as the time it takes any string element to complete one such oscillation.

The relation between the frequency and the period is given by the equation: 

Frequency F=80/60=1.33 s-1

Time period  =1/f

=1 / 1.33 =0.75s
