Find the range.

 

The heights (in ft) of students are 5, 5.1, 5.5, 5.2, 6, 5.9, 5.4, 5.2, 4.9, 5.3, 4.8, 5.8, 5.5, 6.2, 6, 5.9, 5.4

Height of tallest person  = 6.2 ft

Height of shortest person = 4.8 ft

∴Range= Height of tallest person - Height of the shortest person 

              =6.2 - 4.8ft = 1.4ft

Hence, the range for heights of all the students in the class is 1.4 ft.
