Detailed Solution

The Himalayan rivers are perennial. The Indian river system is large and has a complex composition. Based on the origin, the rivers are broadly classified into two major categories, perennial and seasonal. Perennials are those rivers with water throughout the year, while seasonal rivers, as the name suggests, have higher water levels in the rainy seasons and are dried during the other part of the year. The rivers originating from the Himalayas come under the perennial classification as they have water in them throughout the year because their water source is not only rain but their sources include melted snow from the Himalayan glaciers as well.
