The Himalayan rivers receive water from rain as well as from melted snow. Himalayan rivers or rivers originate from the Himalayas. A well-known example of the Himalayan river is the Ganga river, a very prominent river of India apart from its few other examples: Yamuna, Gandak, Kosi, etc. The rivers originating from the Himalayas come under the perennial classification as they have water in them throughout the year because their water source is not only rain but their sources include melted snow from the Himalayan glaciers as well.
