The historic session of 1929 took place in Lahore.
The renowned party Indian National Congress adopted the resolution of Poorna Swaraj, or total independence, during this Lahore session, making it a highly important one. On the bank of the Ravi River, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru raised the Indian tricolour flag during this. On December 31, 1929, at midnight, Congress adopted a resolution for total independence in front of a sizable crowd. The Congress President also raised the flag of complete freedom on the Ravi River bank. This was the day the nationalists unfurled the tricolour for the first time. As a result, Congress resolved to celebrate Purna Swaraj Day, or absolute independence, on January 26, 1930.
