Detailed Solution

Superovulation is a reproductive technique used in cattle breeding to induce a higher number of mature eggs (oocytes) to be released during the estrus (heat) cycle of the female. In this process, a hormone which mimics the natural FSH hormone produced by the pituitary gland, is administered to the female cattle. The FSH stimulates the growth and development of multiple ovarian follicles, each containing an immature egg. When the follicles mature, they release the eggs, increasing the chances of successful fertilisation and multiple pregnancies.
