Detailed Solution

Suppose the smaller leg = 'a'
longer leg ='b'.
Hypotenuse 2=length2+breadth2
Given, the length of hypotenuse of right triangle =310 cm
So, by the Pythagoras theorem,
3102=a2+b2
9×10=a2+b2
a2+b2=90..(1)
Now, the smaller leg is tripled while the longer leg is doubled.
Thus, the new hypotenuse = 95 cm.
(3a)2+(2b)2=81×59a2+4b2=405(2)
Multiple equation (1) by 4 and subtract from eq 2 to get,
5a2=45
a2=9
a=3
 Thus,
9+b2=90
b2=81
b=9
Correct option is 1.
