The increased concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is causing the Earth's temperature to rise. Greenhouse gases absorb infrared radiation produced from the surface of a hot object and reradiate it back to the Earth's surface. Carbon dioxide, methane, and other greenhouse gases are examples. Human actions such as burning fossil fuels, cutting down trees, and so on release these gases.
Greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and other air pollutants absorb solar radiation and sunlight that bounces off the Earth's surface. Normally, this radiation escapes into space, but these gases hold the heat, resulting in a rise in Earth's temperature.
