Detailed Solution

The Indian National Congress issued the Purna Swaraj declaration on January 1930. It resolved the Congress and Indian nationalists to fight for Purna Swaraj, or complete self-rule independent of the British Empire, which is derived from the Sanskrit words "Pra" (complete) and "Svarja or Swaraj" (self-rule or sovereignty). On December 31, 1929, Jawaharlal Nehru raised the Indian flag on the banks of the Ravi River in Lahore. The Congress requested that India's citizens mark January 26 as Independence Day. Volunteers for Congress, Nehru, nationalists, and members of the general public openly flew the Indian flag around the country.
