Detailed Solution

The Indian National Congress Session at Calcutta was held in September 1920.
Young Muslim leaders like the Ali brothers, Muhammad and Shaukat, started discussing with Gandhi the potential for a coordinated mass movement on the problem of Khilafat(to restore the powers of the Ottoman Caliphate after the First World War). Gandhi viewed this as a chance to include Muslims in a unified national cause. He persuaded other politicians to launch a Non-Cooperation movement in support of Khilafat and swaraj at the Congress session in Calcutta in September 1920.
