Detailed Solution

The Indian Parliament is bicameral. The highest legislative body in India is the Parliament, which has two chambers. Its two houses are the Lok Sabha, or House of the People, and the Rajya Sabha, or Council of States. The Upper and Lower houses, respectively, are referred to as the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha. Either the Indian President nominates candidates, or the people of India elect the members of the Indian Parliament. The Indian Parliament, or legislative, is under the direction of the President. Both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have six-year mandates, with a third of each body's members retiring and being replaced by newly elected individuals every two years.
