It has an elevation of 600-900 m. The Peninsular Plateau is one of the major physiographic divisions of India. It is triangular and covers almost half of India. This is one of the oldest landforms on Earth. There are great plains to the north of it and vast oceans to the south of it. It is made up of ancient crystalline, igneous and metamorphic rocks. The valleys are broad and shallow, and the hills are rounded in shape. It has many big and small plateaus, e.g., Deccan Plateau, Malwa Plateau, Chota Nagpur plateau, Meghalaya plateau, etc.
