The Indians opposed the Simon Commission on its arrival in 1929.
The newly elected Tories in Britain constituted a Statutory Commission under the direction of Sir John Simon. The panel was entrusted with assessing the functioning of India's constitutional system and offering recommendations for enhancements. It was founded in reaction to the nationalist movement. The problem was that the commission was entirely devoid of Indian representation. They were all British. When the Simon Commission arrived in India in 1928, all parties, including the Muslim League and the Congress, took part in the protests, which were greeted with the sign "Simon Go Back."
