The infamous Jallianwala Bagh incident happened on April 13, 1919.
It was an enclosed area with high walls on all sides. Present was a sizable crowd there, some protesting the Rowlatt Act of the government and others celebrating Baisakhi, a Punjabi holiday. In response, British General Dyer ordered his troops to obstruct the exit and suddenly open fire on the defenceless crowd. Over a thousand people lost their lives due to the horrific human disaster it caused.
