Given that, the initial count of bacteria is x.
x   bacteria multiplies y   times every day.
We have to find the total count of bacteria in a week.
Therefore the number of bacteria on the 2nd   day =xy  .
On the 3rd   day ,number of bacteria will be =x y 2  .
Similarly on the 4th   day and 5th   day the number of bacteria will be xy3,xy4 respectively.
On the 6th   day and 7th   day, the count of bacteria will be xy5 and xy6.
At the end of the 7th   day and that is on the 8th   day the number of bacteria =xy7.
So, the total count of bacteria after 1 week is xy7.
