Detailed Solution

The initiative for the Bastar rebellion was taken by the Dhurwas. When the British government came forth with the proposal in 1905 to reserve two-thirds of forests, ban shifting cultivation, collection of forest goods and hunting, the communities of Bastar were concerned. As a result, people were displaced, and some villagers could stay if they were willing to provide free labour. Thus, the initiative for the Bastar rebellion was taken in 1910 by the Dhurwas. They were from Kanger forest, where the forest reservation had first taken place.
