Detailed Solution

The interest of the East India Company in trade led to the occupation of India. The interest of the East India Company or EIC in trade led to the occupation of territories in India. The East India Company came as a trading company in India to import and export goods with it. Their fallacious aims to maximize their profits even at the cost of the Indians and their livelihoods led them to their varied policies of conquest and expansion. They made India their colony and exploited it for their benefit. This way, they took raw materials from agricultural India at cheaper rates to industrial Britain and sold the finished goods back to India, which was a huge market.
