The isobars do not differ in the number of nucleons.

The atoms of different elements having the same mass number (or atomic mass) but different atomic number are known as isobars. The atoms of isobars possess a different number of electrons and hence their chemical properties are different. In other words, isobars have the same number of nucleons (protons + neutrons) but a different number of protons in their nuclei.
