Detailed Solution

The kharif crops are also known as monsoon crops. The kharif crops are grown under the category of kharif season which is one of the major seasons of the Indian cropping season. The crops grown in this season are called monsoon crops because the cultivation and sowing of seeds are used to get started when the monsoon hits India. Due to the large geographical extent of India, a monsoon hits at different times in different parts of the country, and because of this cultivation of these crops also varies from place to place. The harvesting of these crops takes place in October and November when the monsoon season also comes to an end. Some of the major kharif crops include rice, maize, sorghum, bajra, etc.
