Detailed Solution

The Kheda peasant Satyagraha took place in 1918. It was a significant rebellion during the struggle for Indian independence. The Kheda peasants paid daily levies to the British. However, 1918 saw a terrible drought, a crop collapse, and the plague. Due to these reasons, the peasants were unable to pay their taxes. Mahatma Gandhi then began the Satyagraha campaign against the British with the assistance of other leaders like Vallabhbhai Patel. The British government removed taxes for a year due to Gandhi's support for the peasants and the organisation of the Satyagraha movement.
