The kheda satyagraha was launched by Gandhiji to support peasants.
Gandhiji developed the idea of Satyagraha in his struggle against Colonial rule through peaceful methods. Gandhi defined satyagraha as a pure soul force. According to him, truth is the substance of the soul, which is why he termed it satyagraha. He started with the struggle against the Britishers through the method of satyagraha in three scenarios: Champaran Satyagraha, 1917, in Bihar, in favour of peasants against the oppressive plantation system.Kheda Satyagraha,1917, in the region of Gujarat to support peasants who demanded remission of taxes on the occasion of crop failure and plague epidemic.
