The Kheda Satyagraha was launched by Gandhiji to support the peasants.
Gandhiji developed the idea of Satyagraha in his struggle against colonial rule through peaceful methods. Gandhi defined Satyagraha as a pure soul force. According to him, truth is the substance of the soul, which is why he termed it Satyagraha. Gandhiji came to India in 1915, after which he travelled across India. He started with the struggle against the Britishers through the method of Satyagraha in various scenarios. Kheda Satyagraha of 1917 was in the region of Gujarat to support peasants who demanded remission of taxes on the occasion of crop failure and plague epidemic.
