Detailed Solution

The Khilafat movement was supported by  Mahatma Gandhi.
Shaukat and Mohammad Ali founded the Khilafat movement. They are often known as the Ali brothers. The movement was led by the brothers and arose in India in the year 1919 to salvage the Ottoman caliph as a symbol of unity and establish him as the supreme leader of the Muslim community and Khalifa. The rise of the Khilafat movement was seen as an opportunity by Mahatma Gandhi who wanted the people of India to stand as united brothers against the brutal British Raj. Gandhi supported the call of the leaders of the Khilafat movement, Mohammad Ali and Shaukat Ali to initiate a full-fledged Non-Cooperation Movement.
