Detailed Solution

The Lahore Congress formalised the desire for "Purna Swaraj," or complete independence for India, in December 1929, during the tenure of Jawaharlal Nehru as President. On January 26, 1930, it was decided to mark the day as Independence Day, during which time everyone would promise to fight for unrestricted independence. While Mahatma Gandhi created the "Declaration of Independence" vow in 1930, it repeated the core of the American Declaration of Independence, unlike the Poorna Swaraj Resolution, which was written by Jawaharlal Nehru. The Indian National Congress subsequently proclaimed January 26, 1930, as Independence Day.
