The leader of the Mensheviks was Alexander Kerensky. Following the February Revolution, he emerged as a significant political figure. The interim government was founded when Russia's monarchy was overthrown in 1917. Kerensky was appointed Minister of Justice in the government. He instituted numerous reforms in the newly established government, including abolishing the death penalty. However, his reign was cut short when the Bolshevik commander, Vladimir Lenin, destroyed his regional administration. However, his biggest blunder was Russia's engagement in World War I, which was widely reviled.
