Detailed Solution

The leaves of mulberry trees are used by a female silk moth to lay eggs.
The lifecycle of the silk moth starts from eggs laid by female silk moths; the female silkworm lays about 350 eggs at a time on the mulberry leaves. The eggs are covered with gelatinous secretion by which they cling to the leaves and protect themselves. The eggs hatch and become a caterpillar; this caterpillar feeds on mulberry leaves and turns into a pupa. The silk is obtained from the cocoon wrapped around the worm to get converted to a moth. The female moth or silkworm lays eggs and dies after laying eggs as it doesn’t eat anything.
