The length of 40 leaves of a plant are measured correct to one millimetre, and the obtained data is represented in the following table: 

(i) Draw a histogram to represent the given data. [Hint: First make the class intervals continuous] 

(ii) Is there any other suitable graphical representation for the same data? 

(iii) Is it correct to conclude that the maximum number of leaves are 153 mm long? Why?

(i) Histogram of the given data:

To make the classes continue we subtract 0.5 form the lower limit of the class and add 0.5 to the upper limit of the class then we get the continuous classes.

Thus, the continuous classes becomes,

form this continued data we draw the bar graph,

(ii) Instead of drawing histogram we draw the frequency polygon for this data.

(iii) The maximum number of leaves lies between the length  144.6 mm - 153.5mm 

So, here 153.5 is the maximum thus we can not conclude that the maximum leaves are 153 mm long.
