The length of a rectangular field is twice its breadth. Jamal jogged around it four times and covered a distance of 6km. Then the length of the field is 500m.
Given that, length of rectangular field is twice its breadth.
i.e. l = 2b                                                                             -1)
and Jamal jogged around it four times and covered a distance of 6 km.
Let’s consider the breadth of the rectangular field = x m.             -2)
Then, the length of the rectangular field = 2x m.                            -3)
Now, to find the length of the field we will use the formula,
Distance covered in four rounds = 4 × Perimeter
⇒6km = 4 × 2 (l + b)
⇒6000 = 8 × (l + b)                            ( ∴ 6 km = 6000m)
⇒6000 = 8 × (x + 2x)                        ( using 1) , 2) and 3) )
⇒6000 = 8 × 3x
⇒6000 =  24x
⇒ x = 600024  ∴  x = 250 m
∴ The breadth of the field is 250 m.
Using equation 1) we can find the length of the field.
∴ l = 2 × b
⇒l = 2 × 250
⇒l = 500m
∴ The length of the field is 500 m.
