Detailed Solution

Godavari, the second-longest river in India, is also known as the Dakshin (South) Ganga or the Vriddh (Old) Ganga.
The river has a length of around 1,450 km (900 mi). It begins at Trimbakeshwar in Maharashtra, close to Nasik and Mumbai (formerly Bombay), about 380 kms from the Arabian Sea, and empties into the Bay of Bengal.
The river splits into two streams in Rajahmundry, 80 kms from the coast (Vasista flows to Narsapur, and Gautami flows to the other side of Pasarlapudi), creating a particularly rich delta.
