Detailed Solution

The light coming from an object enters the eye through the cornea.
The main function of the cornea is to protect the eye, but it also helps in focusing light due to its converging action. Just behind the cornea is an iris, the coloured part of the eye. The iris is that part of the eye which gives the eye its distinctive colour. The iris has a hole at its centre which is known as the pupil. The pupil appears as a dark spot in the centre of the iris because no light is reflected from it, the size of the pupil is controlled by the iris.
