Detailed Solution

The light reflected by a plane mirror may form a real image if the rays incident on the mirror, which is converging.
The plane mirror forms a virtual image, erect and of the same size. The plane mirror focal length is infinite. So, if a parallel beam of light rays incident on the surface of the plane mirror, then the rays get diverged, so no image is formed. In order to form an image, reflected lines have to be extended in the backward direction. It is given that light rays from the plane mirror may form a real image, which means reflected rays have to meet at a point in front of the plane mirror. So, rays 1 and 2 are the converging rays after reflection.
