Detailed Solution

The literacy rate is higher among males than females.
According to the 2011 census, 82% of males and 65% of females are literate. However, these figures might have increased now. There are a few reasons for the huge gap in the literacy rate. Many families, especially those in rural areas, tend to prioritise boys in terms of education, while educating a girl child is seen negatively. From the beginning, girls are not considered earning family members, so parents tend to ignore their education. The second reason is the lack of good schools in rural areas. Schools don't tend to have adequate facilities in rural areas, which becomes a hurdle.
