Detailed Solution

The loudness of sound is determined by the amplitude of the vibration.
The definition of the amplitude of a sound wave is given as “the loudness or maximum displacement of vibrating particles of the medium from their mean position when the sound is produced”. Therefore, we can say that the loudness of sound is determined by the amplitude of the vibration. A sound that is faint has a smaller amplitude and a louder sound has a larger amplitude. Thus the amplitude of sound determines the loudness of sound.
