Detailed Solution

The magnetic field of a current-carrying solenoid is similar to the magnetic field of a straight conductor carrying current.
A solenoid is a copper wire coil of numerous insulated circular loops.
When a current can flow through a solenoid, magnetic field lines are generated around it. It generates a magnetic field comparable to a bar magnet's magnetic field. The solenoid repels the bar magnet when the north pole of the bar magnet is brought close to the end connected to the battery's negative terminal.
Since like poles repel one another, the solenoid end connected to the battery's negative terminal acts as the North Pole while the other end acts as the South Pole. As a result, the solenoid's one end acts as the North Pole and the other as the South Pole.
