Detailed Solution

The magnetic strength of a magnet is concentrated in two regions called the pole of the magnet.
Magnetic strength is concentrated at the ends of the magnet, and these end regions are called poles. Each magnet has two poles, a north pole and a south pole.
A bar magnet is freely suspended; it orients itself north-south. The north-seeking pole of such a magnet, or any similar pole, is called a north magnetic pole. The south-seeking pole, or any similar pole, is called a south magnetic pole. Unlike poles of different magnets attract each other, like poles repel each other.
