Detailed Solution

The main motive of the Salt Satyagraha was to break the salt law. The Civil Disobedience Movement was built on the Salt Satyagraha. Gandhi presented Viceroy Irwin with 11 demands in 1930 and gave him till that date to accede to them. Irwin turned down the demands. Gandhi then began the Dandi March on March 12, 1930, in order to violate the salt law. Gandhi believed that by starting a national effort to end the salt production ban, he might bring the country together because salt was a necessity that was used by both the wealthy and the working class.
