Detailed Solution

The major weaving centres in the 18th century were Dacca, Benaras and Tanjore. Indian textiles were known to be of exquisite quality and fine texture. They dominated the international market till the 18th century and were in huge demand in Europe. The textiles were hand woven by the weavers of India. Weavers were the only communities with specialised skills in weaving. The main centres of weaving were spread across India with their distinct characteristics. The important centres were Dacca, Bengal, Tanjore, Benaras, Pulicat, Ahmedabad, etc. The centres were located on numerous rivers, which made their transportation easy. Dacca was the most famous centre for producing mulmul and jamdani fabric. The centres in south India were located on the eastern and western coasts.
