Detailed Solution

The major features of pre-colonial trade and industry were Major ports, Major goods and trading partners
Before the advent of machine industries, India's silk and cotton products dominated the international textile market. The goods were purchased from Punjab and taken to Afghanistan, eastern Persia, and Central Asia by Armenian and Persian merchants. Camels transported bales of fine textiles through the northwestern frontier, mountain passes, and deserts. The main pre-colonial ports saw a thriving sea trade. Surat on the Gujarat coast linked India to the Gulf and Red Sea ports, while Masulipatam on the Coromandel coast and Hooghly in Bengal had trade connections with Southeast Asian ports.
