The major role of the business class was seen in the Civil Disobedience movement.
Indian industries were established very well from the First World War. However, the Britishers imposed laws that restrained Indian traders and affected Indian businesses and merchants after the war. So when Mahatma Gandhi launched a Civil Disobedience Movement, Indian business people supported eradicating the laws restricting their trade. Hence prominent industrialists like Purshottamdas Thakurdas and G.D.Birla attacked the colonial control over the Indian economy and supported the Civil Disobedience once Gandhiji launched it. Moreover, they provided financial aid to the movement and refused to buy or sell imported goods. They believed that attaining Swaraj would help trade flourish without any constraints.
