1)      The major vegetation types of the world are grouped as forests, grassland, tundra, and scrubs. These can be summarised as follows:
2)      Forests: a large area covered with trees. Thirty per cent of the earth's surface is covered with forest. Example- Amazon forest cover in Brazil and Mangrove forests of Sundarban.
3)      Grasslands: a large area covered with grass instead of trees. Have a few tall trees as well—Example-Prairies in North America and velds in South Africa.
4)      Tundra: an area where tree cover is minimal. Example - Arctic Circle.
5)      Scrubs are small plants with less than 8 meters of height and are woody. Example- Rose, Jasmin, lemon, etc.
